A little too
tired and loopy to talk in-depth about what I’ve been thinking about during these past few days, but here are some things that more eloquent people have said that touch on what’s been bouncing around in my head as of late:
“We think of love as being a feeling—an emotion—but true love is more of a being and a doing, a giving, an outpouring. Love touches, love offers...
The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God...

Dear You,
Let me just say that I love You. I love You for many reasons that somehow ultimately mesh into one gloriously beautiful thing, which is You Yourself. I love You for who You are, what You’ve done, and all the promises I know You’ll fulfill.
I love You because I am a changed person who continues to be made better. I am no longer someone who is quick to become angry or frustrated when I...

John 11:35 Jesus wept.
In times like these, I am powerfully reminded of the shortest verse in the Bible—of Christ’s amazing compassion. Praying that God would cultivate this kind of tender sympathy for the afflicted in me…so that I’m not just someone who says, “Don’t worry, God loves you”, but someone who demonstrates it actively. I need to stop just spewing out teachings and...
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 39:12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers.
Luke 23:33-34 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the...

Reminders from myself →
So I was playing around with formatting a new blog layout, and decided to leave a “random post” option up. Naturally I clicked it, and so I was hit with this post from May that has awesome reminders from past-me to present-me.
Half a year older but not necessarily wiser all around…trying to me more alert and less forgetful this time around.
I read through the first eight chapters of Proverbs today, and man, that book packs a punch. Or more like a bunch of punches every other verse or so.
Proverbs 4: 5-8 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you...

This break =
going through the book of Proverbs and also doing a random chapter of the Bible (that I haven’t read before) a day. On top of my Chambers devos, of course.
Also trying to finish Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret, The Ragamuffin Gospel, and Radical.
Sounds like a lot, but I mean, I have a ton of free time (especially since I’m now car-less) and this is the best use for it. And...

So Christmas is in 6 days and for me, this awesome Tim Keller quote sums the whole meaning up, “In the Christian view, the ultimate evidence for the existence of God is Jesus Christ. If there is a God, we characters in his play have to hope that he put some information about himself in the play. But Christians believe he did more than give us information. He wrote himself into the play as...
Kelsey-isms: CAUTION: Not for the Faint of Heart →
kelseyisms:
If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity. — C. S. Lewis.
I have often wondered if I knew what I know about Christianity now if I would have chosen this path. I wonder if I knew the calling and what was expected of me if I still would…

Lover of my soul I want to tell you Only you have all of me I cannot contain my adoration I’m in love so desperately No one is as lovely as you are There is no one else who has my heart

So I come home for winter break, hoping not to be lazy/apathetic and asking God to stay focused on growing spiritually. I was worried that I’d come home and just get so caught up in hanging out and sleeping and all the TV shows/movies I could watch that I would just neglect real thoughts that I need to sort through and real problems that I need to address and fix with the help of God.
But...
Spent my last evening of the semester with talking with Joana and then praying with her, and also praying with Katie.
Once again, I’ve been reminded of how I’m blessed far beyond what I deserve. So thankful, and so much more encouraged to persevere and right what is wrong.
"The great enemy of the life of faith in God is...
I really, really must remember this and live out my life as if I’m always fully conscious of it. It’s been made evident this semester that the “good” things are the ones with the enormous power of distracting me from the very best—they are the things that lure me in over and over until I somehow find myself off track.
…There are tons of good, fun ways to spend...
